The three things that I have learned from my Information literacy class!!!!!

The three things that I learned from my Information Literacy course and what I really enjoyed were these three things. Information is only skin deep, you can’t go at it alone, and don’t be afraid to go HOG WILD.

1.) Information is only skin deep, this was one thing that I learned when it comes to doing research don’t be afraid to look beyond what you see sitting in front of you on the screen, it’s called research for a reason. It can be overwhelming with all the information based sites, but go at it focused with a plan of attack, be organized within your mission. There is always more than what meets the eye so when it comes to information just don’t stop at the surface dig deep, you might actually learn something.

2.) You’re not as smart as you think. This class was a place to grow intellectually, I felt like I had a great knowledge of the subject and what was going on but if you’re not an open mind you will never realize how much you don’t know. Isn’t it difficult to learn if you already believe you know everything? The class was a learning process for us all it was great cause not only did we learn things but it was exciting to see that Miss Gebhart was learning as well, even it was old news to her it seemed by her deliverance as if it was something new.

3.) Don’t be afraid to go HOG WILD!!!!! This is something that I loved about the class and the teaching style of Miss Gebhart. When she went into something she went in high energy excited and teaching and that was great she was excited about what was going on so that made me excited about what was going on. It was a roller coaster ride that was amazing one that you didn’t want to end once it got going. It never got to the point where it was overwhelming no matter how much information was being put out there, it all was packaged nicely and was very focused.

Professional Goal Question and Answer

1. What are my professional goals after graduation?  Where would I like to start my career and where would I like to eventually end up?

My professional goals after graduation are to obtain a job with an established designer, ultimately establishing my own clothing line.

2.  What plans do I need to make in order to be able to achieve my professional goals? ["Plans" can include everything from finding an internship to learning how to write a business plan to getting a loan]

I believe in order for me to achieve my goals I will need to come up with a plan of attack (business plan), I am calling it a plan of attack because I feel in order to survive in the fashion industry and leave my mark. I need to be bold take chances and be aggressive. I would really like to go to New York and do and internship with Heatherette, starting to gain that inside knowledge that will be greatly needed to be a permanent fixture in the fashion world.

3.  Who are the people in my life who support my goals?  How are they supporting them?

The people in my life who support my goals are amazing starting with and not limited to my immediate family, my extended family such as friends a few former co-workers, and employers.  And last but not least my very supportive and loving partner. These very special have been there to support me not only financially but have invested time, and emotion wich makes it even more special. I have certain people who are there with me every step of the way big or small they are they to push me make sure I stay on top of everything and continue to achieve my goals.

4.  What things might be obstacles for me as I work to achieve my professional goals? [These can be anything from money to time to attitude]

I use to believe that there will be things that will stop you or make it hard for you to achieve your goals in life, but I have come to realize when it comes to those who make it and those who don’t they were their biggest obstacle. I have learned to take those ” obstacles ” and make them work for me, not work me. Meaning I do not make excuses for myself, I don’t worry about not doing something because I don’t have the money. I just do it knowing I am giving it my all putting forth that effort and as long as I do that everything is fine, and I feel as if I did my part.

5.  What am I willing to sacrifice and what am I not willing to sacrifice in order to reach my professional goals?  Why?

I am willing to sacrifice a lot when it comes to reaching my goals such as my time and money, and I think thats a given with anything you are trying to achieve in life it’s an investment. I am not willing to sacrifice family time family is something that is really important to me so I will not sacrifice that, unless it’s a situation where I have a family event but Oprah wants to interview young designers and I am scheduled. I am not willing to sacrifice who I am being an individual is all we have in life so I won’t sacrifice who I am just to fit a mold.

  1. This blog is incredible! I have no doubt that this is going to end up being a popular blog [I can show you some tricks for getting more publicity, if you want it]. It will take time and persistence, but I’m betting that if you keep it up, you’ll develop a loyal following. This is a great way to not only get to know people [by asking them "What were you thinking?" *laughs*], but also to get your name out there.

    Keep blogging Deante!!!
